Postings have been non-existent this past two weeks – sorry. I could have squeezed things in somewhere between
1) getting caught up after being gone to KC for 4 days,
2) fourth of July holiday,
3) driving back and forth to driver’s ed on the other side of town every day
(32 mile round trip once a day for 10 days and twice a day for 2 days) or
4) moving into the newly remodeled offices here at church (woo-hoo! we are enjoying all the gorgeous new space!)
But I decided that actually I’d sleep and spend time with the kiddos since the oldest heads off to college in just 22 short days. (I am not this old!)
For the next few days, I’ll just post some thought provoking snippets from the conference.

I have located a must read on another blog.
Use the Blogroll on the right and click on Jeremy’s Complete Faith Blog. (Not reading it for the compliments, but the ability to say “Thank you, Jesus for adversity and affliction” relates exactly to what I was talking about earlier in the week about God hemming me in. This morning in prayer we talked about this too. One person talked about how much she appreciated the “crushings” in her life because of the way they brought her to God. It was a sweet time.
Jesus, teach me to thank you when life is hard. Teach me to pray when things get tough. Help me to learn quickly what you want to teach me.
Thanks for writing Jeremy; it is an honor to share the path with you.

God Bless Carter! Thanks to his technical know how, I am able to unveil the new Ten Virgins picture.
Thankfully the pig head is gone and the he was able to brighten up the dark lady in the background. We’ll just assume that her lamp is out. And yes, I know that Boba Fett is really some sort of two handled pottery being carried by one of the girls. Perhaps she is bringing the wine to the wedding.
There is some cool symbolism in what the girls are carrying.
Starting on the left the first girl carries lilys and palm branches. Lilys represent purity and the palms welcome the coming King.
The next girl carries a sheaf of wheat to represent the harvest and our first fruit/very best offering to the King.
The next two are my personal favorites. One carries the doves. Doves show singleness of purpose and devotion, because they have no peripheral vision…they can’t be distracted. The Holy Spirit took the form of a dove when he rested on Jesus.
Next is a girl carrying a harp and scrolls. The Word cannot be separated from our worship. Their connection is totally connected.
I think I see a bowl of fruit next as the fruit of the Holy Spirit accompany those who walk with Him.
After this point the gifts become more mysterious…perhaps the next is incense which would represent the prayers of the saints; closely followed by the wine of gladness.
Jesus, I want to bring you good gifts everyday. Help me to remember that you are daily worthy of nothing less than my best.
The purple flowers are a great replacement…Thanks Carter!!!
PS For those of you wanting an update…I heard the rooster yesterday morning. I had no idea what fried chicken sounded like – now I know!

The picture for this blog was great at first glance. I was ok with Boba Fett in the background and felt sorry for the grim looking virgin in the background. But when I really took a look at the lady in the foreground between Boba and dark lady, I noticed she was carrying a pig’s head. What is that!?!?! I thought this was a Jewish wedding.
Got to go find a new picture.
