Thanksgiving for Restoration

I’ve pondered on how the LORD has ministered his peace to my heart. He is SO good. Here’s my song of thanksgiving this year.

Considering the choices

November 19, 2008 · Leave a Comment

The “you” in this post refers to pro-aborts.

There is no God and abortion is not a big deal.

This means that anybody, anywhere, anytime should be ok no matter what they are doing.  Getting an abortion – ok.  Trying to protect women from the bad side effects of abortion – ok.  Working towards adoptions and foster care – ok.

You’re ok. Keep the freedom of choice flowing. Make everyone’s life better.

I’m ok. Keep trying to protect women from perceived and documented medical harm, work to protect the unborn, champion the cause of adoption and work on the foster care system.

There is no God and abortion is a big deal.

You’re ok and not ok. Abortion is not ok because of the harm it brings to women and dismembered unborn babies. But actually you are probably ok, because if the law allows an immoral act there is no consequence to you. And if there is no God, then there is no long term consequence to you. So you are ok and others aren’t.

I’m ok - Keep trying to protect women from perceived and documented medical harm, work to protect the unborn, champion the cause of adoption and work on the foster care system.

There is a God and abortion is not a big deal.

You’re ok. Keep the freedom of choice flowing. But this might not make a whole lot of sense because if you take this point of view, then the God who says, “thou shalt not kill” and “do unto others” and “love your neighbor as yourself” is an impotent God because everything in the Bible is just a suggestion and we can live  anyway we want.  So you’re ok, but you’ve got a God who’s pretty worthless.

I’m ok. Keep trying to protect women from perceived and documented medical harm, work to protect the unborn, champion the cause of adoption and work on the foster care system.

There is a God and abortion is a big deal.

You are not ok. This is not a good place to be.  If abortion is a big deal to God and he is the God of the Bible, then you are in a really bad place. Life and continuing to champion the cause of abortion may be ok right now, but hold on when God decides to move, or you go meet him.

I’m ok. I’m doing what he’s told me to do.  When we are faithful even in the face of extreme hostility and apparently losing circumstances, God sees.  God remembers and he is our champion. I’m ok. Keep trying to protect women from perceived and documented medical harm, work to protect the unborn, champion the cause of adoption and work on the foster care system.

So somehow in all these situations, being on the pro-life side is a good place to be. If you are not there, you might want to look at which of these four options is your world view.  And if your world view is one that ok’s your life, then that’s great….BUT WHAT IF YOU ARE WRONG?

Four “Choices”

November 13, 2008 · 1 Comment

So it seems to me that everyone gets to choose between four choices and in those choices, there are ramifications and consequences to how we live our lives.

Here they are…

1) There is no God and abortion is not a big deal.

2) There is no God and abortion is a deal – not necessarily big.

3) There is a God and abortion is not a big deal.

4) There is a God and abortion is a big deal.

Did I miss anything?

What now?

November 5, 2008 · 1 Comment

All week last week, I was stuck in Isaiah 26. I kept asking the LORD,”Why am I stuck here?  I’ve got faith for victory, why are you keeping me in this passage.”

I will post the passage here in the New American Standard Version so that you can see it the way that I saw it with key passages bolded.

1In that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah:
“We have a strong city;
He sets up walls and ramparts for security.
2“Open the gates, that the righteous nation may enter,
The one that remains faithful.
3“The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace,
Because he trusts in You.

4“Trust in the LORD forever,
For in GOD the LORD, we have an everlasting Rock.
5“For He has brought low those who dwell on high, the unassailable city;
He lays it low, He lays it low to the ground, He casts it to the dust.
6“The foot will trample it,
The feet of the afflicted, the steps of the helpless.”
7The way of the righteous is smooth;
O Upright One, make the path of the righteous level.
8Indeed, while following the way of Your judgments, O LORD,
We have waited for You eagerly;
Your name, even Your memory, is the desire of our souls.
9At night my soul longs for You,
Indeed, my spirit within me seeks You diligently;
For when the earth experiences Your judgments
The inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.
10Though the wicked is shown favor,
He does not learn righteousness;
He deals unjustly in the land of uprightness,
And does not perceive the majesty of the LORD.
11O LORD, Your hand is lifted up yet they do not see it

They see Your zeal for the people and are put to shame;
Indeed, fire will devour Your enemies.
12LORD, You will establish peace for us,
Since You have also performed for us all our works.
13O LORD our God, other masters besides You have ruled us;
But through You alone we confess Your name.
14The dead will not live, the departed spirits will not rise;
Therefore You have punished and destroyed them,
And You have wiped out all remembrance of them.
15You have increased the nation, O LORD,
You have increased the nation, You are glorified;
You have extended all the borders of the land.
16O LORD, they sought You in distress;
They could only whisper a prayer,
Your chastening was upon them.
17As the pregnant woman approaches the time to give birth,
She writhes and cries out in her labor pains,
Thus were we before You, O LORD.
18We were pregnant, we writhed in labor,
We gave birth, as it seems, only to wind
**We could not accomplish deliverance for the earth,**
Nor were inhabitants of the world born.
19Your dead will live;
Their corpses will rise
You who lie in the dust, awake and shout for joy,
For your dew is as the dew of the dawn,
And the earth will give birth to the departed spirits.
20Come, my people, enter into your rooms
And close your doors behind you;
Hide for a little while
Until indignation runs its course.
21For behold, the LORD is about to come out from His place
To punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity;
And the earth will reveal her bloodshed
And will no longer cover her slain.
